  • Reminder
    Message
    from the
    Order
    Desk
To make parts ordering a little easier for everyone, we have included a quick reminder in this quarter's newsletter. Below we have included a few helpful tips to utilize when calling in or faxing orders for Pacific replacement parts:
    • Have your Pacific Filling Machine Serial Number available at the time of ordering. The S/N can be located in 2 places: (1) It is stamped into the top deck near the pump, and (2) it is on the front nameplate near the timer screw.
    • Have the desired Part Numbers available. The part numbers can be found in the Filling Machine Parts Manual. If you do not know the Part #, you must have the Serial Number.
    • Plan in advance. Be patient in understanding we may not have some custom items in stock, especially on older equipment. Also, some parts require special engineering.
If we can all take these steps when ordering, it will assist in making sure you get your exact order in a timely manner. Thank you!

If you have any questions, please email Tina at tinam@pacificpak.com.

    New Feature
    Tool-less
    Fasteners
    for
    Filling
    Nozzles
Pacific's filling machines have always supported multiple filling nozzle sizes. The ability to change nozzles for different applications provides flexibility to fill an unlimited style of containers and products at a wide range of speeds. The trade-off is some machine downtime in order to perform the nozzle changeover. On older machines, the filling nozzles were fastened via a clamping strap and bolt.

As a standard feature, we now offer a fastener system that does not require tools and results in a reduced changeover time. Easy to grip, sanitary wing nuts are used and can be retrofitted on most of our filling machines.

If you are interested in reducing your downtime due to nozzle changes, contact Jerry at (949) 369-2425 x701 jerry@pacificpak.com.

    Reconditioned Filling Machines
    Short
    Lead-Time
    & Cost
    Savings
Pacific offers "like-new" reconditioned fillers based on availability. These machines are completely stripped down and rebuilt with mostly new components. Currently, we have two filling machines to offer with short lead-times at roughly 25% less than the cost of a new machine:

    • 24-Station, Bottom-up Filling Machine (5.4978" C.P.):
Ideal for personal care, home care and thin food & beverage applications. Speed range of 120 to 360 C.P.M. on 8 to 48-ounce containers. Supports a maximum container size of 4.875"
    • 20-Station, Bottom-up Filling Machine (7.854" C.P.):
Ideal for personal care, home care and thin food & beverage applications. Speed range of 100 to 300 C.P.M. on 16 to 128-ounce containers. Supports a maximum container size of 7.250"

    Technical Tip
    Proper
    Technique
    for
    Gauging
    Fill Nozzle
    Shutoff
    Plungers
One of the many unique features of a Pacific filling machine is the ability to set both the upstroke and downstroke on individual filling stations. To ensure accurate fills, the plunger upstroke and downstroke should be the same at each station.

Every filling machine is shipped factory set and usually requires no adjustment for a long period of time. If fill stations are consistently under or overfilling, use the recommended procedure below to gauge the stroke:

    • Turn the machine air ON. All filling nozzles should be in the closed state.
    • Loosen the air cylinder nut (away from the coupler) with a 3/4" wrench.
    • Turn the coupler such that the end of the plunger stem extends 1/16" beyond the end of the fill tube.
    • Tighten the air cylinder nut. The "downstroke" is now set.
    • Repeat at all filling stations.
    • Turn the machine air OFF.
    • Reverse the air manifold "Pressure" and "Exhaust" lines.
    • Turn the machine air ON. All filling stations should now be in the open state.
    • While holding the stroke screw on top of the air cylinder with a 7/16" wrench, loosen the upper nut with a 3/4" wrench.
    • Insert the proper end of the gauging tool into the fill tube.
Important Note: Use the 1/2" length side for thin products and the 11/16" side for thicker products.
    • Adjust the stroke screw clockwise or counterclockwise until the gauge shoulder touches the fill tube tip.
    • Tighten the stroke nut while holding the screw in place. The "upstroke" is now set.
    • Turn the machine air OFF.
    • Return the "Pressure" and "Exhaust" lines to their original positions.
If after gauging all the filling stations, you experience inaccurate fills, turn to the "Troubleshooting" section of your Operators Manual or call Pacific for advice.
